Stored XSS via unescaped attachment alt text
Published Aug 7, 2026 · Updated Aug 7, 2026
Stored XSS in Meow Apps Meow Gallery before 5.5.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in gallery visitors' browsers. Meow_MGL_Core::gallery() reads an attachment's _wp_attachment_image_alt metadata and inserts it unescaped into a linked image's aria-label attribute. Author-level access is required to upload media and set the alt text, and execution occurs when any visitor, including an administrator, views or hovers over the published linked gallery.
