SYSTEM code execution via DCOM task scheduling
Published Jul 17, 2026 · Updated Jul 17, 2026
Privilege escalation in Broadcom Symantec IT Management Suite 8.7.3, 8.8, and 8.8.1 allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM. A DCOM and Task Scheduler logic chain crosses the non-administrator security boundary and schedules attacker-controlled code under the SYSTEM account. Interactive access as a non-administrator is required; the chain needs no network access or memory corruption and yields full SYSTEM execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
