Subscriber-level plugin installation via late capability check
Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026
Missing authorization in Catch Plugins Catch Themes Demo Import 3.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to install a WordPress plugin. The catch_themes_demo_import_activate_plugin() admin_init handler invokes Plugin_Upgrader::install() for the hardcoded essential-content-types package before checking the activate_plugins capability. Subscriber-level access and an activate_plugin GET parameter are sufficient; the bounded consequence is installation of that single plugin.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
