Manager-to-Administrator escalation via unchecked role assignment
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Privilege escalation in Propovoice 1.7.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to create an Administrator account via its REST API. The create() endpoint passes the sanitized role parameter directly to WP_User::set_role() without an allowlist or promote_users capability check. Access requires the plugin-defined ndpv_manager role or higher, after which the new Administrator account grants full WordPress control.
