Contributor-level script execution via iframe source reconstruction
Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026
Stored XSS in Sparkle WP Patterns Kit 1.0.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script in a victim's browser. The front-end video-popup handler decodes an entity-encoded href and concatenates it into an iframe src HTML string without escaping, letting a quote terminate the attribute and create an onload handler. Contributor access can store the payload, but execution requires a viewer to open the content and click the play button; the script then runs in that viewer's WordPress origin.
