Unauthenticated API quota abuse via unchecked AJAX action
Published Aug 2, 2026 · Updated Aug 2, 2026
Improper access control in WoowBot before 4.8.4 allows remote attackers to submit Gemini requests using the site owner's API key. The qcld_gemini_response AJAX action accepts an unauthenticated keyword without an authorization or nonce check, signs the outbound Gemini request with the stored key, and relays the response. Gemini integration must be configured; repeated calls consume the owner's quota, and enabled RAG exposes indexed knowledge-base content.
