Process crash via duplicate VobSub language entries
Published Jul 9, 2026 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in GPAC MP4Box 26.03-DEV allows local users to crash the process using a crafted VobSub .idx file. vobsub_read_idx increments num_langs for every repeated valid id declaration without bounding it to the fixed 32-entry langs array, and vobsubdmx_parse_idx later reads beyond that array. The file must be parsed by GPAC or MP4Box; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash, including in automated media workflows.
