CVE-2026-15168Public exploit

Heap disclosure via unchecked decompressed size

Published Jul 8, 2026 · Updated Jul 8, 2026

Information disclosure in Wireshark 4.4.0 through 4.4.16 and 4.6.0 through 4.6.6 allows attackers to obtain heap data from a crafted BLF file. The zlib LogContainer reader allocates uninitialized storage from the declared uncompressed size, accepts short inflate output, and treats the full declaration as readable data. Opening the malformed trace is required; decoded packets, exports, or sharkd responses can expose stale process memory without memory corruption.
