CVE-2026-15164Public exploit

Crash via unbounded remote hex-dump write

Published Jul 8, 2026 · Updated Jul 8, 2026

Heap buffer overflow in Wireshark Foundation ciscodump 4.4.0 through 4.4.16 and 4.6.0 through 4.6.6 allows attackers to crash the capture helper. The IOS, IOS-XE 16/17, and ASA remote hex-dump parsers append decoded groups with memcpy into a 65,535-byte heap buffer without checking the destination offset. Exploitation requires user interaction to connect ciscodump to a hostile Cisco endpoint, after which an oversized packet dump crashes only the extcap capture process.
