Subscriber-to-Administrator escalation via unchecked role changes
Published Jul 23, 2026 · Updated Jul 23, 2026
Privilege escalation in MDJM Event Management 1.7.8.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to become WordPress administrators. The set_permissions() and employee role-change handlers accept submitted role values without capability checks, nonce verification, or a server-side allow-list before changing WordPress permissions. An unauthenticated request can first grant MDJM capabilities to a registered role, but a subscriber-level account is required to convert that access into Administrator privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
