Authenticated appliance hang via deeply nested YAML
Published Jul 17, 2026 · Updated Jul 17, 2026
Denial of service in affected GitHub Enterprise Server 3.17 through 3.21 releases allows remote authenticated users to hang the appliance. The release-notes generator parses a repository YAML configuration without limiting nesting depth, causing excessive resource consumption. An authenticated user must add the configuration and trigger release-notes generation; exploitation interrupts service across the instance.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
