Out-of-bounds read in GNU Binutils ld on affected Red Hat products allows local users to expose heap data or crash the linker via XCOFF files. The 32-bit XCOFF parser uses an unvalidated field from the object file as an array index, causing a heap-buffer-overflow read. Exploitation requires low privileges and user interaction to make the linker process a crafted object; impact is limited to heap-data disclosure and a linker crash.
