CVE-2026-14985

Root code execution via installer path traversal

Published Jul 22, 2026 · Updated Jul 22, 2026

Path traversal in Analog Way Picturall Quad Compact Mark II 3.5.8 allows local users to execute arbitrary code with root privileges. The passwordless root maintenance script create_local_installer.sh trusts a traversal string in picturall-version.txt inside a crafted Ext4 image, allowing writes outside the extraction directory. Low-privileged picmedia access and local delivery of the image are required; writing a payload under /etc/cron.d yields full system control.
