Account impersonation via unhandled token authentication error
Published Mar 27, 2026 · Updated Mar 27, 2026
Authentication bypass in Black Duck Coverity Connect 2024.3.0 and later before 2025.12.0 allows remote attackers to assume a user's roles. The command-line authentication path at the /token API endpoint does not handle an authentication error, allowing a crafted request for a known or guessed valid username to proceed as authenticated. The endpoint must be network-reachable and the username valid; successful access is confined to roles assigned to that on-premises Coverity account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
