Unauthenticated information disclosure via REST access bypass

Information exposure in Password Protected 2.6.8 through 2.8.3 allows remote attackers to read protected data through the REST API. The REST authentication callback treats the enabled password_protected_rest option as sufficient to permit requests without verifying a logged-in session. Exploitation requires the sitewide gate and Allow REST API option to be enabled; exposed data includes protected post titles and account identifiers, while post bodies remain protected.
