Subscriber-level stored XSS via double-encoded comments
Published Jul 31, 2026 · Updated Jul 31, 2026
Stored XSS in WP Photo Album Plus before 9.2.04.003 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through photo comments. wppa_do_comment() strips only real tags before storage, but comten_alt_display decodes double-encoded entities and preserves event handlers. Subscriber-level access, enabled comten_alt_display, comment approval, and a visitor viewing the comments are required; the script runs in that visitor's browser and can compromise the session.
