Unauthenticated service interruption via recursive entity expansion
Published Jul 22, 2026 · Updated Jul 22, 2026
XML entity expansion in Progress Telerik UI for ASP.NET AJAX before 2026.2.708 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via forged postbacks. LayoutBuilder parses XML from the _ClientState field without disabling DTD processing, so recursive internal entities consume memory exponentially. Exploitation requires an affected page to declare the internal LayoutBuilder control explicitly and expose that page without authentication or to low-privilege users.
