Remote code execution via unescaped thumbnail filenames
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
OS command injection in FileRun 2026.2.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code through crafted upload names. Thumbnail extractors embed the uploaded file path inside a double-quoted shell command and pass it to PHP exec(), while the filename filter permits $() substitution. Any account with upload permission can run commands as the web-server user when previews are enabled; a known file-request token also exposes a pre-authentication path.
