Unauthenticated list subscription via unchecked AJAX action
Published Jul 31, 2026 · Updated Jul 31, 2026
Improper access control in Mailgun for WordPress before 2.2.1 allows remote attackers to add arbitrary addresses via a public AJAX request. The add_list handler accepts name, email, and list-address fields without a nonce or capability check, then uses the site's stored API key to create Mailgun list members. Exploitation requires an active, API-configured plugin and a known or guessable list address; it changes list membership but does not grant WordPress access.
