Authenticated file disclosure via skill-name path traversal
Published Jul 5, 2026 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Path traversal in Hermes Agent 2026.5.29.2 allows remote authenticated users to read local files through crafted skill names. The skill_view function joins the untrusted name argument to each trusted skill search root before containment checks, then validates file_path against the already escaped directory. Access to an agent tool path is required; a sibling or ancestor directory containing SKILL.md can expose colocated secrets and configuration files.
