Local file disclosure via symlinked allowlist path

Symlink following in Markdownify MCP Server 1.0 and 1.1.0 allows local users to read files outside configured path allowlists. The assertPathAllowed and isWithinDirectory helpers compare normalized path strings with startsWith without resolving symlink targets, after which file reads and conversions follow the accepted symlink. The bypass requires MD_ALLOWED_PATHS or MD_SHARE_DIR plus an attacker-influenced path inside an allowed directory, and access remains limited by server-process file permissions.
