Authenticated code execution via undersized normalized query buffer
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Heap buffer overflow in PostgreSQL pg_stat_statements before 18.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via crafted array constants. Its query-normalization path underestimates the space required for normalized text, so processing those constants writes beyond a heap allocation. The module must be loaded through shared_preload_libraries, and successful exploitation runs code as the operating system account that owns the database server.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
