CVE-2026-14663Network attack vector

Plaintext disclosure via ignored cipher failures

Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026

Cleartext storage in PostgreSQL pgcrypto before 18.6, 17.11, 16.15, 15.19, and 14.24 allows remote attackers to recover plaintext. The PGP encryption code ignores OpenSSL cipher failures and XORs an unencrypted block with plaintext, producing a trivially reversible wrapper. Exposure requires pgcrypto use with a cipher disabled by the linked OpenSSL configuration; affected input also decrypts under a wrong key, defeating MDC authenticity checks.
