Unauthenticated fraudulent vote insertion via unescaped POST fields
Published Jul 4, 2026 · Updated Jul 4, 2026
SQL injection in saveVote.php in Code Projects Online Voting System 1.0 allows remote attackers to insert fraudulent votes via POST fields. The test_input function applies htmlspecialchars without ENT_QUOTES, then concatenates voterName, voterEmail, voterID, and selectedCandidate into an INSERT statement. The endpoint accepts unauthenticated requests, enabling database-query manipulation and fraudulent voter or vote records within the database account's permissions.
