Administrator escalation via privilege-update type confusion
Published Aug 7, 2026 · Updated Aug 7, 2026
Type confusion in Sonatype Nexus Repository 3.19.0 through 3.94.x allows remote authenticated users to gain administrator access. The REST privilege update endpoint confuses resource types while processing an update; Sonatype has not disclosed the incompatible types. Exploitation requires nx-privileges-update permission and a custom, non-default privilege assigned to the caller's role, after which the account controls the instance as an administrator.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
