PHP code execution via shortcode path traversal
Published Mar 18, 2026 · Updated Mar 18, 2026
Local file inclusion in NextGEN Gallery 4.0.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP through a crafted shortcode. LegacyTemplateLocator::find_custom_template() resolves the shortcode's template value without rejecting ../ sequences before including the resulting .php path. Author-level access is required to create or edit the shortcode, and execution requires an includable PHP file readable by the web process.
