Unauthenticated file disclosure via unrestricted media paths
Published Jul 4, 2026 · Updated Jul 4, 2026
Path traversal in Hermes Agent 2026.5.0 through 2026.5.16 allows remote attackers to read local files through the live webhook endpoint. The extract_media function in gateway/platforms/base.py expands MEDIA paths from webhook-derived content without restricting them to an allowed directory. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation discloses files readable by the Hermes process.
