Authenticated data disclosure via fail-open dataset validation
Published Jul 31, 2026 · Updated Jul 31, 2026
Improper authorization in Google MCP Toolbox for Databases 0.16.1 through 1.4.0 allows remote authenticated users to read restricted data. The bigquery-execute-sql tool treats an empty BigQuery dry-run result as validation success instead of parsing and checking referenced datasets. A configured allowedDatasets restriction is required; INFORMATION_SCHEMA exposes excluded schemas, while EXTERNAL_QUERY accesses federated row data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
