Unauthenticated directory deletion via forged restore state
Published Jul 28, 2026 · Updated Jul 28, 2026
Path traversal in Dev Easel Demi 0.0.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to recursively delete arbitrary server directories. The unauthenticated demi_restore_step AJAX handler accepts an exposed on-disk HMAC key instead of capability and nonce checks, then passes a forged state's unrestricted absolute path to CleanDir::execute(). Exploitation requires retrieving the key from the public uploads subdirectory and forging a signed restore state; successful requests remove directories recursively.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
