Subscriber-to-Administrator escalation via unchecked waitlist account creation
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Privilege escalation in YITH WooCommerce Waitlist Premium 3.35.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to create administrators. The add_user_in_waiting_list() handler imports attacker-controlled POST variables with parse_str() and extract(), then passes them to wp_create_user() and set_role() without capability or nonce checks. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to create a new administrator account and obtain full WordPress site control.
