CVE-2026-14341Network attack vector

Maintainer-level protected branch modification via project import

Published Jul 29, 2026 · Updated Jul 29, 2026

Improper authorization in affected GitLab CE/EE releases allows remote authenticated users with Maintainer role to alter protected branches. The project import flow accepts protected-branch configuration through a projects API endpoint without required authorization enforcement; GitLab has not disclosed the endpoint or code-level operation. A Maintainer account and unspecified project-import conditions are required in 12.8 before 19.0.5, 19.1 before 19.1.3, and 19.2 before 19.2.1; the documented impact is limited to configuration integrity.
