Unauthenticated account takeover via unchecked OTP state
Published Aug 1, 2026 · Updated Aug 1, 2026
Improper authentication in Chat On Desk Order Notifications – WooCommerce before 1.0.9 allows remote attackers to take over arbitrary accounts. The lost-password flow stores the target username in a PHP session before OTP validation, and the AJAX password-change handler accepts a new password without confirming validated OTP state. Exploitation requires SMS OTP password reset to be enabled and the target account to have a registered phone number; administrator accounts are exposed.
