Stored XSS via unescaped data-link attribute
Published Aug 14, 2026 · Updated Aug 14, 2026
Stored XSS in Embed Google Photos album through 2.2.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in viewers' browsers. The get_embed_player_html_code() function writes the link shortcode value into a double-quoted data-link attribute without context-appropriate escaping, allowing a quotation mark to create an executable event handler. Contributor-level access is required to store the payload in a post, and execution occurs when another user, including an administrator, previews or views the affected post.
