Unauthenticated Editor account creation via role parameter
Published Jul 8, 2026 · Updated Jul 8, 2026
Privilege escalation in ThemeHunk TH Login Registration 1.0.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to create WordPress editor accounts. The unauthenticated /thlogin/v1/register handler accepts the role parameter, treats any value returned by get_editable_roles() as valid, and passes it to wp_insert_user(). Public user registration must be enabled; successful requests create editor accounts that can modify site content.
