Local privilege escalation via world-writable service DLLs
Published Aug 21, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
Incorrect DLL permissions in Remote Utilities Host 7.7.3.0 and earlier allow local users to execute code as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. The installer grants Everyone full control over service-loaded DLLs, including libasset32.dll, in the Host installation directory. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and a window while the service is stopped, after which service restart loads the replacement payload.
