Heap corruption via unchecked recovery-volume array index
Published Jul 1, 2026 · Updated Jul 1, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in WinRAR and RAR before 7.23 and UnRAR 7.21 and earlier allows attackers to corrupt heap memory via crafted .rev sets. RecVolumes5::ReadHeader sizes RecItems for the first volume but uses later files' RecNum values without checking the allocated vector before writing RevCRC. Triggering requires victim-initiated testing, repair, or automatic recovery of a supplied multi-volume set; a crash is demonstrated, but code execution is not.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
