CVE-2026-14178Network attack vector

Database process crashes via stale NLS pointer

Published Jun 30, 2026 · Updated Jun 30, 2026

Use-after-free in openGauss 7.0.0-RC1 and 7.0.0-RC2 allows remote authenticated users to crash database backend processes. to_timestamp_with_fmt_nls() retains nls_fmt_str from a SeqScan expression context after that context is reset, and timestamp_out() later dereferences it through CheckNlsFormat(). Exploitation requires SQL execution access and a crafted NLS-enabled to_timestamp query on a seqscan-plus-sort path; the bounded consequence is backend-process termination and service interruption.
