Authenticated arbitrary file upload via unchecked rename
Published Jan 28, 2026 · Updated Jan 28, 2026
Arbitrary file upload in Meow Apps AI Engine 3.3.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to create executable PHP files. The rest_helpers_update_media_metadata function accepts an attacker-controlled filename and renames a benign Media Library image without revalidating its extension or file type. Editor-level access is required, and execution follows when the web server processes the renamed uploads-directory file as PHP.
