Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped Skype URL
Published Aug 16, 2026 · Updated Aug 16, 2026
Stored XSS in the Social Media Follow module in Elegant Themes Divi 5.0 through 5.8.1 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript. The module inserts the contributor-controlled Skype URL and action into an anchor href attribute without escaping quotes, so the value breaks out into an event handler. A Contributor must create a pending post through the REST API, and a higher-privileged user must preview it; the injected script then runs in that viewer's browser context.
