Administrator account creation via trusted registration role
Published Aug 23, 2026 · Updated Aug 23, 2026
Privilege escalation in RestrictMate before 1.3.0 allows remote attackers to create administrator accounts through public registration. The registration handler trusts an attacker-supplied role parameter, assigns the Administrator role, and automatically starts the new account's session. The registration form must be exposed, and successful exploitation grants full WordPress site control without prior authentication.
