Unauthenticated credential disclosure via indexed migration artifacts
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
Information disclosure in InstaWP Connect 0.1.3.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to obtain database credentials during migration. An options-{migrate_key}.txt file in wp-content/instawpbackups embeds the key used to derive its AES-256-CBC passphrase, while the directory lacks listing controls. On Apache deployments with Options +Indexes enabled, attackers can enumerate the file during migration, decrypt it, and recover database access details and api_signature.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
