CVE-2026-13401Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Process hang via stalled attribute parser

Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026

Denial of service in CODECHILD XML::Bare 0.53 and earlier allows attackers to hang a Perl process via malformed XML attributes. The att_nameqsdone state in parserc_parse loops back to itself without advancing cpos when a single-quoted attribute name is followed by a character other than an equals sign or NUL. Processing attacker-controlled XML through the default parser pins one CPU and holds the Perl interpreter indefinitely.
