Unauthenticated payment bypass via unverified PayPal IPN
Published Jul 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 30, 2026
The WP Travel WordPress plugin before 11.8.1 allows remote attackers to mark pending bookings paid through forged PayPal IPN requests. The PayPal IPN listener accepts attacker-controlled custom, payment_status, and mc_gross values without performing PayPal's post-back verification before persisting booking and payment state. No credentials or user interaction are required; a pending PayPal booking is enough to set its status to booked and paid at an attacker-chosen amount.
