Code execution via installer DLL search-order hijacking
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
DLL search-order hijacking in LY Corporation LINE for Windows before 26.4.0 allows local users to execute code during installation. LineInst.exe requests Msftedit.dll by relative name without establishing a secure DLL search path, so Windows loads an attacker-supplied copy from the installer's directory before the System32 library. Exploitation requires a user to run that installer; the substituted DLL executes with the installer's privileges.
