Encrypted query corruption via writable internal metadata
Published Jul 22, 2026 · Updated Jul 22, 2026
Improper validation in MongoDB Server allows remote authenticated users to corrupt encrypted query correctness through crafted writes. The mongos router accepts client-supplied flags and internal encryption metadata fields in Queryable Encryption write commands that should remain server-controlled. Exploitation requires write privileges on an affected Queryable Encryption-enabled collection in a sharded cluster.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0 <7.0.39
- Affected versionversion=8.0 <8.0.28
