Unauthorized collection reads via divergent graph traversal checks
Published Jul 22, 2026 · Updated Jul 22, 2026
Incorrect authorization in MongoDB Server allows remote authenticated users with read privileges to access unauthorized collection documents. For a $graphLookup stage stored in a view pipeline, authorization and execution resolve referenced collections inconsistently, so execution traverses collections omitted from the effective authorization check. Reachability requires read access to the view and permission to invoke its pipeline; the consequence is disclosure of documents from otherwise unreadable collections, with no reported write or service-interruption capability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0 <7.0.39

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
