Authenticated data disclosure via client-supplied mergingPipeline
Published Jul 22, 2026 · Updated Jul 22, 2026
Authorization bypass in MongoDB Server allows remote authenticated users to read unauthorized collection data in affected sharded deployments. MongoDB Server's $search parser accepts client-supplied mergingPipeline routing data that should be restricted to the trusted sharding router. Exploitation requires authentication, a sharded topology, and Atlas Search; affected 8.0, 8.2, and 8.3 branches expose collection data outside the caller's permissions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=8.0 <8.0.28
- Affected versionversion=8.2.0 <8.2.12
- Affected versionversion=8.3.0 <8.3.7

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
