Infinite-loop denial of service in dnsmasq on affected Red Hat platforms allows attackers to halt DNS resolution with one crafted response. The dnssec.c NSEC/NSEC3 type-bitmap parser enters an endless loop while processing malformed bitmap data from a DNSSEC-signed zone. The attacker must control a signed zone queried by DNSSEC-enabled dnsmasq; the resulting process hang stops resolution for every client it serves.
