Unauthenticated account takeover via unchecked password update
Published Jul 24, 2026 · Updated Jul 24, 2026
Missing authorization in CAFEHAUS API 1.0.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to reset any WordPress user's password. The /wp-json/cafehaus/v1/user/password/update route accepts userId and password parameters, then updates the selected account without authentication or an authorization check. No login or user interaction is required; choosing an administrator's user ID and a replacement password grants control of that account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
