Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode target
Published Jul 29, 2026 · Updated Jul 29, 2026
Stored XSS in Tribulant Software Newsletters 4.15 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via a shortcode. The posts_single() function copies the attacker-controlled target attribute into $wpml_target, and shortcode_posts() inserts it into a post-thumbnail target attribute without esc_attr(). Contributor-level access is sufficient to store script that executes when a visitor opens the affected page.
